Here are some helpful reminders you can check off your list as you pack.
1. Airline Ticket
Please be sure to re-confirm your seat on the plane the night before your flight is scheduled. Bring our ticket receipt as extra confirmation. Limit your luggage to two bags at less than 50 lbs, otherwise there will be additional fees. If you plan on taking less than the required luggage, please let us know, we have many other things we will be bringing and could use your help. For additional flying details, please visit the airline's website at www.continental.com.
Visa, Mastercard and American Express are all used as payment methods in China. We recommend you call your card carrier to notify them you will be traveling overseas. In addition, please make sure you have some cash or travelers checks on hand.
The power outlets in China are different than those in the US. If you bring any electronics, be sure you bring a power adaptor and transformer. Any local electronics store will have those in stock for you to purchase before you leave.
Don't forget your passport. In addition, it's a good idea to keep a copy of your passport and visa and driver's license in a separate location in case your passport is lost or stolen.
Please notify us if you are traveling any medications. We'd like to keep this on file in case of an emergency.
6. Small gift
As noted in the schedule, we will be visiting a Children's hospital during the tour. We ask that you each bring a small gift to donate to the hospital. If you are interested, feel free to bring any extra Harley memorabilia from the U.S. There will be plenty of opportunities to present such items to the Chinese people throughout the trip.
7. Dress Code
Be sure to pack your rain gear and warm weather gear. We all know that the weather is unpredictable. We also ask you pack a sports jacket. There will be a formal dinner with members from the Shandong Provincial Government.
8. Cell Phones
Contact your cell phone carrier before departing to find out the international rates that apply to your cell phone plan. Many carriers offer international plans that you can purchase by the month.
